Recognized as one of the well-adorned pickup truck in the country, the Strada is Mitsubishi Philippines' entry in the midsize pickup truck segment. Now on its third generation, the Japanese midsize utility truck received its rightful facelift in January 2019. The update includes the Dynamic Shield exterior styling and more muscular body sculpture. Outside, the Strada boasts the 'X' fascia, similar to the latest models of the tri-diamond brand: the Xpander, Montero Sport, ASX, among others. It's got slim headlights, the C-shaped chrome accents that outline the fog lamps. The Mitsubishi Strada is athletic, agile, and sporty yet promising to conquer any country roads. Quality is emphasized on the interior with soft-pad materials. Despite the facelift, the Strada now only runs with a 2.4-liter 4 in-line Clean Diesel with Variable Geometry Turbo and MIVEC 4N15 engine, scrapping the former 2.5-liter Common Rail Direct Injection 4D56 diesel engine. That leaves the Strada nameplate with one powerplant, which can produce 181 hp and 430 Nm of torque. The 2019 Strada is available with 4x2 or 4x4 variants, with power being transmitted by either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
The Mitsubishi Strada was launched on January 26, 2019, with a new face. The pickup now features Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield design language. It also now comes with a new 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine. With the new body, redesign comes a new pair of projector headlights and foglights. The lighting has been split into with the main projector LED headlights being put at the top while its signal lights have been placed at the bottom.
The Mitsubishi Strada rides on a reinforced ladder on frame chassis. For suspension, the pickup gets an independent wishbone setup at the front and for the rear, it gets a live axle with leaf springs. Stopping power comes from disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. Powering the pickup is a 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine that makes 179hp and 430 Nm of torque. Power is sent to either all four wheels or exclusively to the rear depending on the variant.

The Mitsubishi Strada thanks to its 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine and its conventional 6-speed transmission lets the vehicle be torquey. Power from the vehicle can be felt as early as 1,500RPM. When the transmission shifts, however, there is a bit of a delay when letting the engine downshift by itself. This is where the paddle shifters come into play as they easily let you downshift the car.
At higher speeds, the Mitsubishi Strada is tame, composed, and feels planted. Steering feel is on the heavy side which will make maneuvering in tight spaces difficult. Thankfully the Strada has sensors to aid you in maneuvering the pickup.
The Mitsubishi Strada comes with, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, and a push to start button. At the center of the vehicle can be found a 2-DIN touchscreen infotainment system that comes ready with navigation. Sound is sent through a 6-speaker sound system. The infotainment system also comes with USB, Aux, iPod, and Bluetooth capabilities. The pickup also comes with keyless entry as standard
The Mitsubishi Strada now comes with a new face thanks to Mitsubishi’s Dynamic shield design. The pickup sports a two-layer headlight design. The top is where the main headlight is housed, it features the high and low beams of the vehicle. The second set at the bottom houses the signal lights and fog lights. The higher tier has LED projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, and at the back, the LED treatment continues with its taillights.
The interior of the Mitsubishi Strada comes in a black theme with a light gray headliner. There are two choices for seat material, leather for the higher trims and cloth for the lower variants. At the center of the interior of the pickup is a 2DIN touchscreen infotainment system. It comes navigation ready and supports Bluetooth and iPod capabilities.
What you will like about the Mistubishi Strada is that it has a lot of tech and safety features included in the pickup. It has early torque thanks to its 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine and the ride comfort has been improved over the last generation.
What you might not like about the Mitsubishi Strada is that the interior has extensive use of piano black plastics which are scratch magnet areas. The gear shifter also has delays when in full automatic mode. The vehicle can also be hard to maneuver in tight spots.
